Attorney Charles K. Sunwabe, Jr. received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas. He holds a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and African Politics from The George Washington University and a master’s degree in International Politics from The Catholic University of America.
Attorney Sunwabe is admitted to practice law before all Pennsylvania state courts, including the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, as well as all federal courts within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He is also licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia.
While still a student at Washburn University School of Law, Attorney Sunwabe was licensed by the Kansas Supreme Court as a legal intern and began representing indigent clients through the Washburn Law Clinic. During this time, he gained vital legal experience in client counseling, witness preparation, and engaging with opposing counsel and judges. He went on to successfully practice before the Shawnee County District Court in Topeka, Kansas.
In August 2018, Attorney Sunwabe was appointed by then-President Judge John J. Trucilla to serve as an attorney for Domestic Relations in Erie County, Pennsylvania. He held this role for two years, trying paternity and child support matters on behalf of the Commonwealth.
From 2018 through 2023, Attorney Sunwabe served as a panel attorney for the Erie Human Relations Commission, where he handled employment and housing discrimination cases. In 2022, he rose to the position of Senior Panel Attorney and remained in that role until his departure in 2023.
During his time in Erie, Pennsylvania, Attorney Sunwabe also served on the Board of Directors of Erie Day School, where he held the position of Secretary. He remained in that role until relocating with his family to the Commonwealth of Virginia in 2020.
